5.0% alcohol 145 calories per 12oz*

Been busy doing some boards for Stacy Wall and a certain big beer company.

There’s recently been talk of a ban on alcohol advertising in the UK, which would cut out quite a few clients for me.

I wonder if that ban would make much of a difference to our ‘Broken Britain™’/Anglo Saxon ways.

*Except in Utah, Minnesota, Kansas and Oklahoma where a 3.2% alcohol by weight (4.0% by volume) strength is available due to state laws.

If they really wanted to affect peoples drinking habits by changing adverts, couldn’t they change the guide lines so you can only advertise lower volume beverages. That might also force brewers to change their ranges a little. Either way it’s all bollocks. Kids don’t get shitfaced because the’ve seen a shiny advert, they just change what they’re getting shitfaced on. Maybe they should ban drinking in pubs so everyone is stood outside. Mines the one with the picture of a rotting liver etched into the glass!

    Hey Mike,
To be honest I’m undecided as to whether it would make a difference. Do you think the ban on fag advertising made no difference? I think there are some sections of society where it would make little difference. It would have to make a difference somewhere, otherwise why bother advertising in the first place.

There’s so much life in your work. Ridiculous.

I don’t really think the banning of advertisements would make that big a difference; all it’d really do is put people out of work. There’s still going to be alcohol and beer and booze in mainstream media, whether the upper crust of society wants it or not.

Feels like I haven’t been on this site forever.

Just read this piece in the Guardian… bearing in mind France already has a ban on advertising alcohol, it makes for interesting reading… http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/sep/27/film-france-drinking-problem
