Mum’s Kimono

This is the crane pattern from the kimono that Nao’s Mum wore for her wedding. Crane, (or “tsuru”) motifs are often used in Japanese weddings, on kimonos and decorations etc. because cranes mate for life and are devoted to their partners in all seasons. Both male and female work together to build their nest and care for their young.

Nice.

We had a crane theme at our wedding, with lots of origami paper cranes. We gave everybody origami paper and instructions on how to make them, so that they could entertain themselves before the food showed up. I think combined we made the lucky 1000 in the end.
